Le Marche, set between the Adriatic coast and the unspoilt wilderness of the Sibillini National Park, is an area of outstanding natural beauty, rolling landscapes and picturesque villages. Here you will find welcoming people, traditional local cuisine, quiet roads and a slower pace of life. With summer temperatures in the 30's there is no better place to get away from it all and relax and unwind.
The Sibillini National Park is 35 minutes from the house and part of a mountain chain that rises in the heart of Italy, the highest peak of which is Mt. Vettore at 2,476 meters. The park was founded in 1993 and covers an area of 70,000 hectares. Riding, hang gliding, para gliding, canoeing and quad biking are all available in the park.
Sant' Angelo in Pontano, a typical fortified village, is a 5 minute drive from the house. Here you will find four restaurants, a minimarket, chemist, baker, butcher, bars and bank. In the summer there are festas and concerts in the square. Sit and enjoy the warmth and soak up the atmosphere after an alfresco meal and a bottle or two of local wine. Relax with a coffee, a limoncello and a scoop of home made ice cream.
There are regular low cost flights to the area from Ryan Air and Easyjet or schedule airline flights servicing a number of airports. The nearest airports are Ancona, and Pescara. Alternatively fly to Bologna, Perugia or Rome. The house is about 1 1/2 hours from Ancona and Pescara.
